DIY Jellyfish Decorations
What you will need:
- paper lanterns of different sizes
- iridescent ribbon
- plastic tablecloths (one for each color of jellyfish)
- scissors
- hot glue gun
- fishing wire (to hang jellyfish)
1. Cut the plastic tablecloths into six 1-inch pieces.
2. Cut 1 inch off of the bottom of the paper lantern.
3. Glue one piece of the tablecloth along the rim of the bottom of the paper lantern.
4. Stretch sections of the tablecloth pieces to make them look like tentacles. Be sure not to stretch them too hard. They will tear.
5. Hot glue the “tentacles” to the paper lantern. Be sure to space them out evenly.
6. Cut six long pieces of ribbon.
7. Hot glue the pieces of ribbon in between the evenly spaced out “tentacles.”
8. Use the scissors to curl the ribbon.
9. Hang the jellyfish up using the fishing wire to make them look like they are floating in the classroom.
These jellyfish are incredibly easy to make. Just be sure to be careful using the hot glue gun!

Color Coordinated Baskets Galore!
I love the aesthetic look of color coordinating everything. It just makes my teacher heart happy! I used these for students’ headphones. This way they are not shoving them in their desk and ruining them. Each student has a basket with their number on it.

Under-the-Sea Word Wall and Birthday Fish
To make this word wall, I used the butcher paper provided by the school. For the letters, I found a theme I liked on Teachers Pay Teachers and glued them to small yellow party plates.
Student Recording Studio
This is by far one of my favorite parts of my classroom! Nowadays all my students seem to dream about being a YouTube star. The recording studio is an area where the students record themselves reading their weekly decodable. After recording, they had to listen to the recording and rate themselves on their fluency. The recording studio was a huge hit with my second graders!
